Tom Gregorio's PrezCon Experience!

PrezCon Summary

The Third Annual PrezCon TRC event has just concluded and Bert Schoose is now on a roll as he added the crown for this tournament as a nice follow-up to his WBC win. There were eleven stalwart participants who got nineteen games of the TRC 5-turn scenario in. Games started on Wednesday and the finals took place on Saturday. Bert Schoose, Tom Gregorio, John Ohlin, and Forrest Paffenberg qualified for the semi-finals. The free-form format took the three best games each participant played to determine qualification; two semi-finalists qualified with 3 wins and two qualified with 2 wins. (“Strength of Schedule” was the tiebreaker.)

I matched up against Bert in the finals and was rolled, Sep/Oct 41 saw my Russians risking a 1-2 against a stack of three surrounded Panzers and rolling the dreaded “Attacker Eliminated” which led to my resignation. Bert did a good job on providing the game details, I think he wants to surprise a few more folks before revealing the details of his new ‘approach’ to the game. Well done, Bert!

Here are a few more anecdotes from PrezCon:
Seemed a bit busier than last year, there always seemed to be something to do. I missed the auction entirely, not sure if that’s not really a good thing! Food selection was so-so but I did like the restaurant burgers, overpriced though they were. Accomodations were excellent, as they were the past few years, and I really had no reason to leave the premises. Managed to get in at least 6 hours of snoozing each night so I was in fine fettle throughout my stay. Justin runs a good event and I’ll be there again.

Met a few new people and re-energized relationships with old gaming acquaintances. Bruno was getting more excited as the week wore on, I’m glad the weekend ended when it did. The John O. and John R. duo from Florida were there again and got in a ton of TRC games. (The professor scored some free drinks from some women, again, I’ll have to pay more attention to his technique.) Bill and I talked about day trading, Paul C. failed to convince me on the merits of having a 56k home internet connection, and the Schoose brothers were entertaining as always. Marty was as calm as ever and Rob B. also made an appearance. (I always seem to get in a game of ‘something’ with him that ends early, this year it was BWD.) Played Martin S., I thought I recognized the name but the ‘mental picture’ did not match the real life person.

Despite never having played hold-em poker before, I surprisingly won the second heat to make it to the finals. (Where I got blown out, early.) Bert gave me a few tips going into the heat and I made good use of them. Before I play again, I’m going to have get a book or something to review poker stats because I had no clue as to what I was doing in terms of the hand probabilities.

FAB: The Bulge, from GMT, seemed to very popular. Too popular, I felt obliged to buy a copy. It’s a block game, and probably not really suited to PBEM play, but my son loved Hammer of the Scots so figure this will be a good entre into the dark woods of the Ardennes. Top notch components, rules seem to be clean. Stay tuned.

Bitter Woods had a good showing. Forrest Paffenburg, my gaming nemesis, spanked my Americans handily but I went undefeated otherwise. My decision to not participate in the finals, a team campaign game, was purely a result of my inability to work well in a team, I know I’d be hard pressed to relinquish any decision-making or cardboard caressing to a team-mate. Had a memorable match with Bill Morse. Another one of those games that I deserved to lose but Lady Luck bailed me out in the end. (Shades of the BWD WBC ’07 finals!)

For next year, assuming I run TRC again, I’m going to really focus on bumping up the participant count. Given the folks who show, this really should be a 16+ event, I just need to figure out how to more effectively recruit for this regional event.

Dr. Lewis Pulsipher Prezcon Experience

PrezCon 2008
I attended the 15th annual PrezCon in Charlottesville, VA 21-24 February. Rick Steeves and I arrived later Thursday evening, PrezCon is a miniature WBC (World Boardgaming Championships), with the focus almost entirely on board (and card) game tournaments. Registered attendance was over 550. Justin Thompson, who runs the con, says it has grown larger every year.

PrezCon is purely boardgames and non-collectible card games--no role playing, no Magic or Yu-Gi-Oh, no "pure" miniatures (there was a Star Wars Minis tournament), no electronic games.

I don't go to conventions to play games, and I don't have much luck getting people to playtest because they're so busy with the official tournaments. Players pay a single fee and play as many tournaments as they can fit in, with wooden plaques for the winners. Most tournaments have two or three heats or rounds, then the most successful players play in a final.

GMT, Mayfair, Z-man, Cafe, and other game companies were there, but the vendors are a minor part of the convention compared with Origins. It really is a miniature WBC.

I've been at PrezCon every other year since 2004. I noticed this year that there seemed to be more kids (under18), and more folks in their 20s and 30s, and more females, though the most common demographic was still a gray-haired male. Some of those kids are offspring of the older folks, but the increase was certainly noticeable.

Early Friday I talked with Jason Hawkins (co-designer of Parthenon) at length about his elaborate but quite clever prototype game of Alexander's successors. I'm afraid Jason thought I was a curmudgeon with my questions about the complexity of it--I seem to be more and more into simple games these days rather than ones with a lot of detail. I also watched a bit of Richard Berg's prototype Dynasty (China) game being played, and skimmed the rules. Berg was also playing a cowboy game that he called a "growth game"--someone asked what had happened to him, as he's very well known for nuts-and-bolts wargames--but there was some gunslinging in it. Dynasty also appeared to be more about about growth than about war. Evidently Richard likes to write a full set of rules fairly early on, rather different from my typical practice (though I write the first-draft rules for quite simple games pretty early in the process).

The most useful thing I did was talk with Ron Magin of Cafe Games about my prototype Law & Chaos. He, Rick, and I played, and he then recommended to Pete, CEO of Mayfair Games, that he should try it. Pete talked at some length about where he has games printed (US, Germany, occasionally China, depending on what needs to be printed). The US has become cheaper than Germany owing to the high value of the Euro (or low value of the dollar, depends on how you look at it). Mayfair is one of the larger US publishers, in particular having the US franchise for Settlers of Catan, which sells in enormous numbers (six figures).

There was a small Britannia tournament, two rounds and then a final board, won again this year by Mark Smith in a tight game. About a third as many people participated as at WBC, which fits the attendance numbers (WBC is 1,500+ attendees).

Though I don't play at conventions, I look at lots of games in progress and talk with various people, and get a lot of good game ideas at a con. One in particular (using techniques from Law & Chaos) is likely to turn out well. Another is a space-themed, broader market, analog to Robo-Rally, my friend Rick's favorite game. Rick also played an eight hour Axis & Allies game, which reminded me of an old project I had to try to make a two hour WW II game that concentrated on the virtues of A&A (strategy) rather than its "unvirtues" (lots of dice, economy-driven, LONG). Many notes and much discussion took place, but I don't know if I'll get any further this time than last.

At the con I heard about a "broad market" (as opposed to mass market) version of a famous gateway game. That gateway game is quite simple, but this version is MUCH simpler, to appeal to a broader market--people who don't normally play boardgames at all except for Monopoly and such (I think), and who might buy them in places like Target or Macy's.

Just for the heck of it, I'm trying to develop a "broad market" version of Brit (the kind of thing that would sell with Risk and similar games). History may be too serious for a broad market, especially medieval British history, but it's an interesting exercise. I already have a "Brit Lite" version, and that can be played by casual gamers and video gamers, but I'm aiming at the sort of folks who might play Risk and Monopoly and checkers or chess, but not much else. I'm doing this for my own amusement, not with the idea of ever having it published.

PrezCon Announcement’s

PrezCon Announcement’s

I first want to thank all of you who attended the con! PrezCon was a great success. It wouldn’t have been so great with out our excellent GM’s or excellent players! I know ever year we thank you for attending but this year we really want you to take notice to the fact we had a 20% increase of our 2007 numbers. That means you took the time to spread the word to your friends, gaming buddies and family members. It will take your good will for us to continue to see the growth we want and you deserve! We had 19.75 players per game tournament average this year! That is up from 16.01 in 07! Our tournaments in 2008 had 8 or more players 92% of the time. That is up from 74% in 07! I could go on and on about all the great numbers we had in 2008! I think you get the point! THANKS! The con is poised to make dramatic leap into becoming the largest pure board game convention outside of the WBC! It is a great time to be in the hobby and to enjoy playing games with all of your friends and family.

Changes for 2009!

1. A (1) sheet GM form that will be filled out with the 1st thru-4th players and brought to the Convention Desk! We will then allow the winners to pick up there plaques right away. 2nds and 3rd will be slightly delayed but never more than a few minutes!
2. (1) Ironman for the whole con! We enjoyed the track Ironman’s but outside of the Euro or Horsepower tracks nobody really was interested. So in 2009 we will have (1) Ironman for the whole con and it will be awarded after the con in completed.
3. New Sportsmanship award will be awarded in 2009!
4. The Auction Store will be back in 2009 in a larger way. Stay tuned for the new revamped store in 2009!
5. Quarterly News Letters will be coming to you soon! If you gave us your e-mail you are already on the list. If you would like to be added to the list just send me a e-mail kingmaker@prezcon.com
6. Junior Events! Yes we will have a full slate of events in 2009! If you would like to GM an event in 2009 please send us an e-mail. Stay tuned for a announcement on how these new events will be run in 2009!

Request: If you found some Poker chips in the Main Ballroom and mistakenly took them home with you please contact me at kingmaker@prezcon.com so we can get them back to the owner. The chips were a gift to one of our players and he would like to see if anybody found them. Thanks for your help!

Dealers in 2009! All of this year’s dealer’s will be returning in 2009! That is GMT, Columbia Games, Worthington Games, SherCo Games, Mayfair Games, Z-Man Games, Café Games, Lock in Load Games and Troll & Toad.

Our Operations Director Bill Alderman is retiring! Yes after 5 years of solid contributions to PrezCon’s Success Bill will be taking a step back. We will be retaining him as a consultant on future PrezCon’s! His contributions will be behind the seen’s but very much felt at our future events. He will be missed and very hard to replace! We do expect to have him as a player at the con! So for all of you Combat Commander, Down in Flames or Upfront players our loss is your gain!

That is all for now! Once again thanks!

Kevin Brown's PrezCon Report

Tuesday

I was seriously considering leaving at 11:00 Monday night in order to play 1960 on Tuesday morning, but after an afternoon gaming session down home I just didn't have the energy. So I left Tuesday morning instead and arrived in time to play Advanced Civ. A seven player game that quickly divided into four haves and three have-nots, with me as a have-not in Babylon. I got the first civil war and just never recovered.

Wednesday

Started the con proper with a rousing round of Union Pacific. It was a strange game, with the purple train locked out of growing and three purple stocks on the board for most of the game. I couldn't get diversified. At game end I had only red, yellow, and black stocks played. Even though I led both red and yellow, which were the second and third largest trains on the board, I finished last. Only 13 dollars separated me from first, however. I got into a heat of Settlers next. It started close and ended with me having 18 cards in my hand after building the two cities I needed to win. Once the 6s and 9s started coming it was all over. Tikal was next. Apparently the rest of the world bids much more aggressively than we do at home. Chris Terrell won the game by often bidding in the 6-8 range during the mid-game, much higher than I'm used to seeing. His first camp went on a tile I placed going last in one turn, thinking I could go first the next time at a reasonable price and place one there myself. I had time for Alhambra after that. I tied for first, which should show the whole Middle Georgia crowd that either this game is purely luck or they could come and be competitive in the games we play alot of. As often happens, I had two competing walls, one finished at eight and the other at nine, that would have gotten me an outright win if I'd been able to connect them. After that came one of my favorite events, McGartlin Motor Racing. Due to scheduling, this was the only heat I was able to play. I finished the day by entering the Texas Hold 'Em tournament. I was the last one eliminated before the final table, more because of my conservative play than any great skill.

Thursday

None of the morning scheduled events really appealed to me. I considered Manifest Destiny, but I've only played once and didn't feel it would be that fair to the other players to be relearning the game in a tournament round. I decided to do Formula Dé instead. I'm not much more experienced at that, but since it's just a matter of picking between two dice and trying to roll the right number I figured I couldn't damage anyone's chances much. As it happened, I rolled well and won, including a redline/slipstream thing at the finish line for the win. Carcassonne was next. As usual I did poorly. Ran into the one of our locals that did attend, Derek Croxton, in this game. I got a distant third out of five. St Petersburg was up next. I got an early Observatory, went green mining for a couple of turns then started noble hunting. I finished with eight unique nobles, which vaulted me to the win. I was GMing Air Baron, which was next on the schedule, and elected to play in the first heat. I got a couple of hubs, Detroit and Washington, took out a loan, and went...nowhere. The dice killed me in fare wars, then my chits wouldn't come when I came out. I was getting just enough money to pay my interest with practically nothing to spare. While I was waiting to gather enough cash to make another attempt at a fare war run, the game ended with defending champ Lee Presser gathering enough cash to put him over the top. Finally, 6:00 arrived and I got to the only tournament I've ever won here that hasn't been eliminated, Railroad Tycoon. My old friend David Hood decided to not let me play my traditional yellow, so I spent the game screwing with him around Chicago. We're both pretty good at this game and finished 2nd and 3rd, behind Tom McCorry who was mostly left alone in New England. The top three advanced to the final, so we would meet again later that evening. In between the RRT heat and the final was the semis and finals of Alhambra. In the semis, I got a long wall going early and won going away. It was 18 long in the second scoring round and 24 by game end. The final was a very closely contested affair between the top three. Again I got a long wall going but was struggling with tile scoring. On the last play of the game I bought two purple tiles, one of which I couldn't play, which got me second in purple and second in the game. 1-2-3 were separated by only eight points. The RR Tycoon final was after that. A very rich opening set of cards came out. I won the bid at 14 to do Atlanta-Richmond. David Hood did the big train thing, then built onto my line from Charleston. That was bad for me, I spent much of the game maneuvering around his track, but worse for him as we both got cut off from the west by Ray Alderman and I got to Savannah to keep him from moving down to Jax. I was able to squeeze second place out of the mess, Hood ended up 5th. Alderman wound up winning, in no small part because Hotel Atlanta netted him about a dozen points. Shortly after that Hood and I got into a pickup game of Outpost. Tom Kobrin won, playing the Data Library strategy. I got the other early Scientist and wound up two points behind. No big card for me on the last turn, I had to settle for 15 ore factories.

Friday

More St Petersburg in the morning. I took second in the heat, missing a win when no orange upgrades came out on the last turn. The semifinals were after that. I got completely dusted, leaving myself short a green on the second turn and having trouble keeping space available in my hand. With nothing going on for a while. I got into a demo game of Amazing Space Venture. It's a silly space exploration game, with Carc-like tile placement mixed with value added card play (kinda like Station Master, except other players only get to add on if you don't play a card of a certain type). The game was unfinished, though I was leading when we quit. Speaking of Carcassonne, that was my next event. Derek was at my table again, and again I finished mid-pack. With not much of interest going on, Derek & I got some other games in. He had picked up Take Stock on the cheap over at the Z-Man games kiosk so we tried that. I don't recall who won, though I was leading early. I think I'd like it better with more than two players. We then started up Race for the Galaxy with Dave Platnik and another player. I like Dave, but I think I'd rather learn a new game with someone else. After a short break, Dave roped me into a game of Apples to Apples Junior with a little girl (whose name escapes me) and her father that wanted to play with some grownups. It's a party game, so winning/losing is irrelevant. A good time was had by all. Finally it was time for a real event, in this case Puerto Rico. I got forced into a shipping strategy, with much corn and indigo, but came up short because I couldn't generate enough cash to get any decent buildings. Ra was the last game of the day. I won, mostly because I was able to wait everyone out to get free draws at the end of the second era. I got a whole rack and about a quarter of another everyone else was out of sun tiles.

Saturday

My plan for Saturday was to play Twilight Struggle all day. The first round was at 9:00. The system here was to dice for sides, with the loser of the die roll having the option to bid influence to switch sides (it's open bidding, the winner could overbid and so on). I won the roll and chose the Soviets. Jim Stevens, my opponent, declined to bid. I was going along well, getting a few points here and a few there. Turn 5 I was at -13 and could have scored SE Asia for six more, but decided to push for eight to end the game. He scored Africa for four, which meant my scoring card only got it to -17. Turn 6 I got OPEC. It was only worth three, the MidEast wasn't as red as usual, but that was enough for the auto win. The next round didn't start until 1:00, so I had time for one more round of Carcassonne. I got locked into a very large city that I couldn't complete. It still scored me 22 points, but that wasn't enough as I got yet another third place. Round two of TS was over before it really got started. I lost the roll and declined to bid, accepting the US. At the end of turn 2, the Soviet played CIA Created while we were at DEFCON 2. He was already in Cuba, thanks to Fidel, so I couped there to end the game. If it had been a friendly game, or even the first round, I would have let him take it back and play his other card (Truman Doctrine, which would have been bad for him as well). By the second round, everyone should know better. That left me with lots of time until the third round, so Jon Kwiatowski got me into a game of Brass. Since one of the players was learning the game, it took longer than usual. I had to leave after the canal phase. I had a slight lead and a nice setup for the second half. Round three of TS was the quarter finals. I won the roll, but Phil Rennert bid two to play the USSR. I took the two IP and the US. This game was just not to be. He played Flower Power as an event on turn 4 and I got dealt war card after war card. I managed to control Africa to get back to -7, but he slowly and surely beat me back down. He headlined Europe Scoring on turn 7 to push it to an auto win. I got into another heat of Ra after that, finishing second. After some food, the semifinals of Ra were up. Ra is fundamentally about patience, and I displayed very little of it. In era two I was out of sun tiles with only two Ra tiles drawn. Needless to say, I finished last. Late night, David Hood and the rest of the CAD contingent got me into another Railroad Tycoon game. No mercy this time, I won by 32 points playing in the SE. I got the opening bid at 6 for the Raleigh Service Bounty, with a yellow cube in Wilmington. I eventually closed off the whole SE for myself, making the whole loop from Richmond to Atlanta to Savannah back to Richmond. One City Growth gave me enough cubes to finish the game.

Sunday

I had qualified for the quarterfinals at Settlers, but wasn't that thrilled at the prospect. It took very little cajoling to get me into a pick up game of Brass instead. The cards didn't lend themselves to what I wanted to do, so I decided to find out if this was a game where you could force the game you want to play despite bad cards. The answer seems to be no, as I finished third and had income problems throughout. I still want to get a copy. Troll and Toad were sold out when I went to look for one Saturday, so I guess I'll have to go online.

That's my con story, and I'm sticking to it.

Gettysburg "What If" Seminar and Demo

Presenter: Dr. Jonathan S. Lockwood, DHS Faculty Chair, National War College, Washington DC

This seminar features a board game staff simulation and demo based on the Battle of Gettysburg. It is designed to introduce the factors of "limited intelligence", "fog of war", and "friction" to up to 20 active participants in the staff demo itself, with room for additional observers on a space available basis. This "what if' simulation allows you to change the overall operational strategy and tactics for either side. Originally developed by Dr Jonathan Lockwood in 1998 as a modification to the RAND Games Associates "Lee Versus Meade" version of Gettysburg in their Command Games series (1975), was an integral part of Dr Lockwood's Intelligence Collaboration Exercise Course (ICEC), piloted by DHS and FBI participants on 24 August 2006. The game is designed to accommodate from 20-30 participants (although 20 is recommended), evenly divided between Union and Confederate staffs. The simulation uses one "master map" controlled by the referee, and two larger gaming maps, one for each staff. The maps are an historical representation of the Gettysburg battlefield, with a 12X12 grid superimposed on the map to facilitate movement of units. Each game turn represents one hour of "real time" on the battlefield. The entire game comprises 41 turns, governing the entire three days of Gettysburg; however, most staff simulations have been governed by a 2-3 hour time limit, at the conclusion of which the game is adjudicated based on the number of "victory points" each side has scored. In this way the relative effectiveness of each competing staff can be assessed.

Scheduled for Saturday Feb 23rd at 12noon! We hope you will take the time to enjoy this "What if" Event!

Ok, If all of this doesn’t get your Board Gaming juice's flowing.... I don’t know what will. We hope to see all of you in 40 Days! If you have any Questions please feel free to call me at 434-531-9191.

PrezCon Hall of Fame Class of 2008

This year we had 12 Players and Gm’s on the ballot for election into the PrezCon Hall of Fame! All of the folks who were on this years list were well deserving of admittance into the Hall of Fame. The Players and Gm’s were also devoted attendees of our con (Many years for most) and tireless volunteers. Each of the members of the current Hall and all of the PrezCon Board of Directors were allowed to vote for 2 players or Gm’s. To be elected into the Hall they needed to receive 67% of the total vote. We had 2 who were the top vote getters but only one got the necessary percentage to be elected.

The Class of 2008 is well represented by the newest member to the PrezCon Hall of Fame: Stuart Pierce!!! Congratulations Stuart, no one is more deserving than you to be elected. Here are Stuarts Wins over the years:

Europe Engulfed (04, 05, 06) For the People (03) Liberty (05, 06, 07) Crusader Rex (06, 07) War of 1812 (07) Wargames Iron man (07)

It wasn’t until 2003 that Stuart just exploded onto the Championship stage. He has attended PrezCon since 1998 and has been a GM for most of those years. We want to thank Stuart for his passion for our hobby and his commitment to gaming excellence.

We will have a ceremony at this years con on Friday night. Please join us as we induct Stuart Pierce into our Hall of Fame!

PrezCon Update!

Announcement: Effective immediately Bruce Reiff has been appointed to the title of Vice President in charge of all things “Auction”!

We are very pleased to add Bruce’s extensive experience to our board of directors. As you may already know Bruce is currently serving his 3rd term as a board member of the BPA! He founded the Cabs game club and is a mover and shaker in the Origins and Buckeye Game Fest seen. Bruce started attending PrezCon five years ago and in his second year took over hosting the auction. He and his crew of devoted gamers have transformed the PrezCon auction into the place to sell your used games. The WBC saw how well Bruce ran the Auction at PrezCon and the WBC’s Auction shortly came into existence. He has nearly quadrupled the sales of the Auction at PrezCon from $3000 to nearly $12,000 last year.

We are planning to have on-line auction sign-up. This will be a (hopefully) easier form Auction item Registration. We will offer 650 Lots…Yes lots. That means you may group games into bundles in 2008! The on-line registration will cost $1 per lot. This is the same fee the WBC charges to insert a game into the auction. Bruce will have complete control over what is allowed into the auction. The Auction Store is gone in 2008. If you have any questions concerning the Auction contact Bruce at breiff@ific.com.

We welcome Bruce to the PrezCon team and we expect great things coming out of the auction in 2008!

PrezCon Update

PrezCon Update!

Game Masters

Pre-registration for Game Masters is now open for PrezCon 2008. Thanks for your support of PrezCon, your efforts help make the con what it is today.

Our End-of-Convention Survey for 2007 said that most of you would be returning to GM again. Past PrezCon GM's know about the 50 percent discount we offer to GM's if you pre-register (and pay) by October 1st! All should pre-register early so we know what tournaments have GM's for 2008.

GM gifts! We are offering the same embroidered Polo shirt we've given to GM's. Many of you have been Game Mastering at PrezCon for over a decade - perhaps you'd like something other than a shirt. We offer three alternatives: An embroidered Cap or a New Tumbler Mug with the PrezCon Logo as an even swap for the Polo Shirt. (We'll also offer these items to the general public but at an upgrade price.) If you would like to upgrade to the new PrezCon Logo Embroidered Game Bag, add $19.99 to your $25 registration.

Price increase for larger shirt sizes! Larger sizes will cost $3 for 2XL, $6 for 3XL and $9 for 4XL. No extra charge for Small through Extra Large (XL) shirt sizes. The default size will be XL. That means if you forget to choose a size, we'll order you a size XL.

Scott Stewart (Game Director) moved his entire family to England this summer! Alas, we will be without him in 2008, and Bill and I will need you to be patient. Make sure you read all of the GM guidelines before you summit your GM forms. PrezCon 2008 will open on Wednesday at 9 am. That's a whole day instead of a half-day. Veteran GM's: please sign-up early. If your tournament format has multiple heats, either start early and finish in the middle of the con, or start Friday or early Saturday and finish Sunday. You who are Game Mastering for the first time, please let us know when you will be arriving and when you will be leaving. We will guide you through the scheduling process and make sure you get a suitable schedule for you and PrezCon.

Tournaments that need GM's:

1. 1776 (NEW) RevCon
2. Shifting Sands

Player Pre-Registration

Pre-Registration is open to all, including you! Sign up early - get into PrezCon for a lower price, and get a great gift too!

Player gifts! We are offering you the same great color Tee Shirt we've given to all of our Pre-Registered players. Many of you have been coming to PrezCon for years - perhaps you'd like something other than a shirt. We offer four alternatives: A Cap or a New Tumbler Mug, Polo Shirt (Royal Blue this year), or the New Embroidered Game Bag. All have the PrezCon Logo. To upgrade to the Cap or Mug costs $5. To upgrade to the PrezCon Polo Shirt costs $15. To upgrade to the New Embroidered Game Bag costs $24.99.

Price increase for larger shirt sizes! Larger Tee Shirt sizes will cost $2 for 2XL, $5 for 3XL, and $8 for 4XL. Larger Polo Shirt sizes will cost $3 for 2XL, $6 for 3XL and $9 for 4XL. No extra charge for Small through Extra Large (XL) shirt sizes. The default size will be XL. That means if you forget to choose a size, we'll order you a size XL.

Open Gaming:

Open Gaming will now be exclusively in the Main Ballroom foyer area. You may setup your games for open play there without the threat of having to be moved. Keep your area clean and the aisles free of chairs and games is all we ask. The foyer will be setup with 50 percent 6-Foot Rounds and 50 percent 8-Foot Rectangular Tables.

We plan to use the Promenade Ballroom (downstairs, next to the indoor pool) for our Horsepower Track tournaments in 2008. The Horsepower Track takes more space than typical board games and we have lots of room in the Promenade Ballroom.

Dealers:

These fine dealers have committed to return in 2008!

1. Troll & Toad
2. Columbia Games
3. Mayfair Games
4. Z-Man Games
5. Worthington Games
6. Cafè Games
7. GMT Games

We have room for one or two dealers who'd setup outside the Ballroom in the Hall area. If you are interested, please let me know.

Pre-Register today! Thank you all very much!
