•  Alhambra: Alhambra has three main components: the currency deck and draw piles, the building tiles and market, and each player has an Alhambra and tile reserve board. The currency deck is constructed at the beginning of the game by first giving each player their starting money The building tiles (all tiles except the 6 starting tiles) are mixed and put in the bag. Each player places their reserve board and Alhambra starting tile in front of them. On a player`s turn, they can do one of the following actions: 1. Draw one currency card or any number of currency cards that have a total value of 5 or less. 2. Buy a tile from the market by playing any number of currency cards whose value equals or exceeds the number on the tile. 3. Alhambra construction. The winner is the player with the highest number of points.
•  Atlantic Storm: This game provides a rather abstract simulation of World War II naval battles involving German attacks on Allied convoys. Each turn, a different player becomes the ""dealer."" This player determines which convoy will be attacked and what sort of forces will be involved in the fight: Air, Surface, Sub or Combined. The players then put down forces and related equipment from their hands based on the restrictions set by the dealer. Players can put down either Allied or German forces.
•  Axis and Allies: A simple, highly abstracted World War II-based game set in the spring of 1942, Axis and Allies has a perhaps unfair reputation amongst hobby gamers as being a ""Wargame for Dummies."" It has an avid following nonetheless, and the production values that publisher Milton Bradley was able to put into it are the envy of all other wargame publishers. It`s a great introduction to Wargames!
•  Battle Cry: Battle Cry is a PrezCon Pre-Con in 2008. This is a fast, tense game for grognard and non-wargamer alike. The rules take just a few minutes to explain, and the rulebook quickly answered any questions. The board is a large hex map divided into three areas (center, right and left flanks), and there are plenty of moveable hexes to produce terrain. Rivers, trees, walls, the usual stuff. The buildable map allows for the 15 scenarios provided in the game, and more can be made up by the players (some of Richard`s are included below). Players also start off with units on the board: Infantry, Cavalry, and Artillery. Each unit has 2 to 4 miniatures, one of which has a flag. There are also some generals (who can move with units or alone). The generals also have flags.
•  Battles of the Am. Rev.: REVCON Event. This event will feature the games of GMT’s renowned Revolutionary War series: Eutaw Springs, Guilford Courthouse, Brandywine Creek, Savannah-1779, and Saratoga (2nd edition.) One game will be played in each round.
•  Bitter Woods: This is the 4th edition of this game.Bitter Woods is a mid-complexity wargame on the last great German offensive in Dec 1944, commonly known as the "Battle of the Bulge". The map depicts the area of operations, the Ardennes area at the borders of Germany, France, Belgium, and Luxemberg. Prominent features like roads, rivers and cities are depicted. A hexagonal grid is superimposed over the map to regulate game play. Each hexagon is 2 miles across, unit size is brigade and regiments. Each turn represents 12 hours of real time.
•  Britannia: Britannia is a historical board game that broadly depicts the millennia-long struggle for control of England, Scotland, and Wales. The game begins with the Roman invasion of 43 A.D., continues through the many struggles between Angles, Saxons, Picts, Norsemen, Scots, Irish, and other tribes, and ends with the Norman invasion of 1066. Britannia allows players to re-create this epic history, re-enacting important battles in some cases, altering the course of history in others. The game rules discourage players from making historically unrealistic moves, but also give players the freedom to alter Great Britain’s history in important ways, creating countless interesting “what if?” scenarios. What if Boudicca’s Revolt against the Romans had been more successful? What if the Romans and the Romano-British had repelled the Saxon invasions of the 5th and 6th centuries? In Britannia, the players will determine the destiny of a kingdom.
